Steve Skipper, Colors of Character
“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31.6 NIV
This verse could be the banner on Steve Skippers body. Though things have looked incredibly tough and downright impossible – leaving the Crips without being killed, a work accident that crushed the hand you use to paint with, no formal painting education – Steve has experienced the Lord giving him a holy boldness in the face of trouble and crisis. His humility prevents this from being seen as self-manufactured. It not that he doesn’t wrestle with the Lord, rather he surrenders to the one who has shown him over and over, that he is trustworthy.
My prayer is for his story to ignite this holy boldness in all of us, because it’s a fire that warms hearts and points to the true source of the flame. Thank you, Steve Skipper, for being a walking painting of what the abundant and yielded life looks like under Christ.
