The Readable Bible
When I became a Christian in 1971 at a wrestling camp in Virginia, the leader of the bible study was an Olympic wrestler. He guided us in so many good ways, and one was to tell us to go home and read our Bible everyday.
The problem, I couldn’t follow or understand my King James Version. The frustration led to abandonment for several years.
Enter a friend with the NASB, a literal translation. Very good, and I dove in. Then came the NIV, a dynamic tension version, built on trying to better understand the thoughts behind the writer.
Both great, but you need to understand both to keep from missing the exact thoughts and their meanings.
Praise be to God that Rod has created the Readable Bible. A cross of the two and so much more. Plus, he’s even created versions for the individual books or several in a row that go into further depth with the extra material they add to help you understand the flow, depth, geography and more. I’m enjoying my copy and hope you will experience the excitement I am. God Bless!
