Danny Ray, Magician

You can hear it in his voice and see it in what he does. Danny loves magic, and he is so good at it, he fooled Penn and Teller on their 12/3/21 show on the CW, “Fool US”.

Great success! Congratulations Danny.

Yet even more than this, Danny loves his wife and the Lord. Magic is what he does, relationships define who he is. That is what came through even greater in his voice in the interview. Honest, open, authentic. He is willing to humble himself and be honest about his needs and where he fails to make relationships work.

I remember someone said to me once that “Being” comes before doing, and yet I often define myself by what I do rather than who I am: A new creation, a child of God, forgiven and redeemed, an heir of Christ, sealed and filled by the Spirit to accomplish works God planned in advance for me to fulfill.

Have you fallen into that same rut. I’m a __________(fill in the blank with something earthly like your job)?

We can replace that with the view God has of us mentioned above and be open and honest about our failures/wrong views and ask the Lord to guide and redirect our heart. It’s clear all humans hunger for that, yet we somehow fear it will take us where we don’t want to go. Just remember Danny. When you read his book, or listen to his humility in the podcast, it is that openess that actually build his security and grows his love.

This is why God tells us in Jeremiah 29.11, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”’
