Presence Based Worship
Dr. Watson speaks of being in awe of God when we find ourselves encountering him in some circumstance and being overwhelmed by his presence. Based upon this definition, it is easy to see how he then moves into Presence Based Worship. Going into times of worship and expecting to have an encounter with the Holy Spirit, so that we are overwhelmed and in awe of our Lord, which produces the greatest of worship.
I do try and enter my worship that way but I know I need to guard that view. Distraction come easy, overwhelmed, not as often. A strong reminder to protect that attitude.
But I’d like to take that further, to all areas of my life. I know I’ve thought this before and I’ve seen it happen many times yet I’m guilty of not making it the norm. Each interaction of my day needs to be open to the possibility of being overwhelmed by what the Spirit can do thru me and you. My goal is not, I want to be overwhelmed. My goal is I want to be useful to you Lord and open to what you present before me. I have seen this and believe it to be true. If I have that attitude, then what God can do thru me is endless. The situations will have a divine rather then my human viewpoint, and I will not be thinking, “what can I do”, rather, “what’s God going to do here?” Any result from that is overwhelming because it is supernatural, not earthly.
