Reign: Restoring Identity
“Your cultural identity is a critical piece of your personal identity (and worldview) that develops as you absorb, interpret, and adopt (or reject) the beliefs, values, behaviors, and norms of the communities in your life.” Victoria Wilson
2 Corinthians 17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!”
Understanding your identity is key to understanding who you are and how to growth and have purpose in life. Today, the world of evil has worked overtime to confuse this issue and flip it from all the norms. Sure, some of the “norms” were human inventions, but many came from the Creator who wrote the manual on we can live most fulfilled.
As Christians, we have become new creatures. The man invented “norms” can be replaced with Godly norms. As we do that, we reflect a transformation to the world that even if we don’t initially understand why, trusting God will prove out as the best way to go. And we will receive a blessing.
Unfortunately the alternative, especially the further away it goes from God’s plan, the more destruction it brings to peoples lives. Regardless of the happiness claimed, the end result will not lead to life.
Therefore it is essential for Christians to know their identity and allow God to replace the old with the new. One being how we love others. Those others going astray don’t need berated, they are humans just like you, yes, just like you, but unforgiven. So give them the example they need and the persuasive words they need to allow the Holy Spirit to work in their souls.
